2024-25 SLOHS Band Member Information Form

Dear Band Families,

Because organizing for Band Camp takes place during the summer, we need to collect current information for every 2024-25 SLOHS Band member by May 10th, 2024. This need is for planning purposes and allows us to contact students and parents with important information. This information is only for internal purposes and will not be shared publicly. Every band student currently registered for a SLOHS 2024-25 Marching Band or Color Guard class, or is planning to register, MUST fill out this form, even if you are not attending sleep-away band camp. Jazz Band-only students do not fill out this form.

Band Camp is an essential part of Fall Marching Season, and one of the favorite events of the year. August 6th-8th will be at SLOHS. August 9-11th we are planning to attend Camp Whittier. Students and parents can SUBSCRIBE HERE to our MailChimp email list to stay informed on all band camp announcements.

Donations

SLOIMBA pays a large majority of the expenses for band event travel and competitions throughout the school year. These essential learning and bonding experiences are made possible by multiple fundraisers throughout the year, as well as donations from current and previous band families.

The cost for Band Camp at Camp Whittier is over $18,000 for our marching band to attend and includes two nights and 7 meals. Band Camp off-site requirements include cabins to sleep our band students, a large space for marching practice, enough space for sectionals (where the sound of each group doesn’t overlap) and a working kitchen with provided meals. Camp Whittier meets all of those requirements and is the best financial option for our group.

This year, if you are financially able to donate, we are asking for payment for the sleep-away portion of band camp. $250/ student will secure you a spot for August and donations can be made on the form below. Why Band Camp Matters

SLOHS Band Camp is an essential part of Fall Marching Season. SLOHS Band students (includes Color Guard) learn or refresh marching skills, practice their instruments, bond with their section and other band members in fun team-building activities, participate in SLOHS Band traditions such as the Senior Candlelight Ceremony, and much more. Band members consistently rate Band Camp as their favorite and most memorable event of the year, with sleep-away Band Camp being the most important component.
