NOTE: STUDENTS MUST TAKE THEIR INSTRUMENTS AND UNIFORMS HOME WITH THEM ON FRIDAY AFTER SCHOOL. PARENTS WILL BE DRIVING THEIR STUDENTS TO THE PARADE. THE BAND ROOM WILL NOT BE OPEN ON SATURDAY MORNING.
Call time is 8:30 am IN CAMBRIA (not the Band Room). The parade begins at 9:30am (we will be finished at approx. 11 am). Assemble on Bridge St., parade on Main St.
Band members should wear their band uniform, t-shirt, hat, and dinkles band shoes. Be sure to wear black socks! **Take your Band Uniform, hat box with your hat, and shoes home on Friday!**
Color guard should wear guard shoes, gold sparkle uniform.
Directions: If you get there before 8 am you might be able to park on Bridge St. After 8 am, you will be directed to the Rodeo grounds and have to walk to Bridge St. Our number is 9 in the parade. Look for it when you get there.
Directions from SLO
Take Highway 1 north to Cambria. It will be easier for you to go past the first and second light (Main St/Ardath and Burton) and instead turn right at the third light, which is Cambria Dr. Make a right on Main St. and head toward Bridge St. Please drop students off about a block or so away from Bridge St. It can get busy in the staging area. Students can walk to our position on Bridge St.
Parking: After dropping students off, turn right on Burton and park your car at the Rodeo Grounds Parking Lot at 4005 Burton Dr, Cambria, CA 93428 on the east side of town, then to walk back to Bridge St. If you find another legal place to park on the street that is fine, but please do not park in a business parking lot. You can also get to town 30 minutes early and park at the west end if you prefer that. There are public lots toward the hill side of town behind Main street (on Cornwall and Arlington St) Then you will walk the mile to our starting point. (Maybe preferable to walking it after the parade?)
If possible leave your case in your car. If you have to bring your case, you will have to find a way get it into a support vehicle upon arrival. The vehicles will not stay in the staging area very long.
Our number in the Parade is 20.
The parade route is approximately 1.2 miles. The parade will end at the Shell Station in the West Village. At the end of the parade the students will be dismissed to find their rides back to school. It gets very crowded at the end, so it may be difficult for a parent to pick up there. Students may walk on the sidewalk back to East Village if needed.
