We are looking forward to your student being a member of the San Luis Obispo Band!
Before each school year, we kick off the season with our much-anticipated Band Camp. During this time, band and color guard students will work with music coaches, learn marching techniques, bond closely as a team, and, most importantly, have fun!
A detailed itinerary of each day will be provided a week before camp starts, but here are the basics of each day.
Freshman & New Member Orientation at SLOHS
Led by the student band board students, this orientation will welcome all new members into the band experience with a variety of activities and marching practice.
All-Band Meeting, Instrument Check-Out
All new and returning band students will meet in the band room for the first All-Band Meeting of the year. You’ll learn about Camp Ocean Pines and will check-out instruments. Afternoon snack is provided.
Students will have signed-up prior to these days for an appointment to have their uniforms fitted. No other band camp activities will occur on campus. Sign-ups available soon.
Camp Ocean Pines
Students will participate in sectional lessons with professional coaches, marching practice, full rehearsals, evening campfire, free time in Cambria, and many other fun activities. This accredited camp comes with dining hall, amphitheater and cabins for ten people each with a bathroom and shower. All meals, snacks, and drinks at Camp Ocean Pines are provided. You’ll have a chance to let Ms. Jeskey know of any food allergies or dietary considerations. Parents can pick up students at SLOHS after the trip is concluded.
High School Registration
SLOHS issues class schedules, school pictures, ID cards, and PE clothes. There will be a special band student session and all students must be in line at the New Gym at the appointed time. Afterward, students load the buses and equipment trailer for Camp Ocean Pines. Snack will be served on the bus.
